First Southwest Community Fund Executive Director, Azarel Madrigal, has been appointed to the First Southwest Bank Board of Directors.
“I am pleased to welcome Azarel Madrigal to the FSWB Board,” said Kent Curtis, FSWB CEO and President. “Her time at First Southwest Community Fund combined with her dedication to finding solutions to provide equitable access to capital resources for marginalized communities will allow her to contribute valuable insight to our board.”
Reflecting on her board appointment, Madrigal said “Throughout my career I have been dedicated to promoting equitable access to resources and improving the lives of all members in our rural Colorado towns. I look forward to working alongside the other board members, sharing my knowledge and experience to better serve FSWB’s customers and our communities.”
Azarel holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Adams State University (ASU) in Alamosa. As a student, she actively participated in student government and served on ASU’s Board of Trustees. In recognition of her achievements, in 2022 Azarel received the “Exceptional New Alumna” award. Also in 2022, she successfully completed the prestigious Boettcher Foundations Doers & Difference Makers Fellowship. Under Azarel’s leadership, the FSWCF received the 2023 Spirit of Alamosa Award from the Alamosa County Chamber of Commerce. Azarel is an engaged and active member of her community, amplifying the voices of marginalized groups through her service on various advisory boards and committees.
